🎓 Academic Roots

I’m Dr. R.D. Wooten—a lifelong learner, educator, artist, seamstress, and baker who believes that both numbers and narratives can illuminate truth.

​

With a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, specializing in Statistics, I spent over thirty years teaching university courses in mathematics, statistical analysis, and computer programming. My academic work includes original research in Implicit Regression, contributions to scholarly publications, and several co-authored textbooks that integrate theory with practical insight.

🌿 Healing & Transformation

In 2014, I was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease. As my condition progressed, I began reimagining my vocation—teaching myself digital art, exploring creative writing, game development, and designing interactive apps to enhance learning.

​

In 2022, I underwent Deep Brain Stimulation surgery, and the following year, my first full-length novel, A Mediterranean Connection: Travels of Jean Pierre Désir, was released.

​​

Over the past year and a half, I’ve faced additional medical challenges—a fractured spine, kidney stone surgery, replacement of DBS components, a battle with sepsis, and a perforated bowel. These experiences have left me homebound for now, but they’ve also renewed my commitment to creating, teaching, and exploring.

In the mist of all this,  showing low sales, tho ugh all known review are five-stars with fantastic reviews, the publisher canceled production and returned all right back to me. So I am now learning self-publication.

🖥️ Wooten Works Today

Wooten Works has become my sanctuary—a studio, classroom, and creative laboratory. I dedicate the strength and time I have to projects that bridge logic and art, balancing mind, body, and spirit.

​

Academically, I continue to:

• Develop two upcoming statistics textbooks and a five-volume series titled Data Analysis in R.

• Maintain the Educational Gaming community on Discord.

• Host two YouTube channels where I teach and share creative work under my gaming persona, Spookyhearts.

​

Creatively, I:

• Produce digital art—posters, maps, and illustrated playing cards.

• Write speculative and historical fiction, including additional novels connected to A Mediterranean Connection.

• Design merchandise such as mugs, maps, postcards, and dice.

​

🏛️ Looking Forward

Ultimately, I aspire to bring all of these worlds together in MARCELLO Parkland—a labor of love uniting history, philosophy, science, and art into an immersive creative experience.

Alongside this, I continue developing interactive Shiny apps, educational games, and artistic experiments that blend pattern, emotion, and code.
